Storing with Berry Bros. & Rudd in our UK bonded warehouse

Fine wine thrives only in the right conditions. Our purpose-built UK warehouse provides expertly controlled storage and replacement-value insurance, protecting your collection until you're ready to enjoy it.

We offer storage for wines that are In Bond (before duty/tax is paid) or Duty Paid. Most wines are stored In Bond.

What are Private Reserves?

When you buy wine from us, your collection can be stored in our warehouse as part of your Private Reserves – your personally managed wine collection with Berry Bros. & Rudd. Our climate-controlled warehouse protects against fluctuations in temperature, humidity, light and movement, helping preserve quality and provenance. Every bottle is inspected by our experts and insured at replacement value.

Private Reserves provides a secure, professional home for your wines while they mature. Through your Berry Bros. & Rudd account – whether online or through our app – you can view, manage and transfer your collection. You can also sell eligible wines through BBX, or arrange delivery whenever you're ready, whether you want your wines delivered in the UK or shipped to you in Asia. If you're cellaring wines for future enjoyment, building a collection, or acquiring investment-grade bottles, your Private Reserves keeps your wines protected, organised and easily accessible.


What happens when you buy in our Auctions?

All your auction purchases also immediately transfer to your Private Reserves storage account once payment has been received. This is for wines that are sold both In Bond and Duty Paid.

What does In Bond mean, and what are the benefits of storing In Bond?

“In Bond” means wines and spirits are stored in a bonded warehouse before UK Duty and VAT have been paid. Duty & VAT only becomes payable when items are withdrawn from Bond for delivery in the UK. As our warehouse is approved by HM Customs & Excise, you can store your collection securely without paying Duty and VAT. If you request to ship your wines to Asia, UK Duty & VAT is never paid.


In Bond storage offers the additional benefit that only In Bond wines can be tradedon our Fine Wine Marketplace, BBX, giving you the option to sell eligible wines in the future. You can also buy on BBX and your purchases immediately transfer to your Private Reserves account.
